An Invitation to Participate

AusWeb is on again this time at Coffs Harbour on the Mid North Coast of NSW. Coffs is located about half way between Sydney and Brisbane and is well serviced by several airlines. This year our venue is the Convention Centre at the Novotel Opal Cove Resort which is located right on the beach a few kilometers north of the city. Southern Cross University shares the
Coffs Harbour Education Campus (CHEC) with TAFE and the Deptartment of Education Secondary Students.

As always, our intention is that the conference allow delegates to come together as a community of interest, to network and discuss all aspects of the World Wide Web from key technical issues right through to its impact on our institutions and social structures. From the beginning AusWeb has attempted to maintain a broad focus and to attract delegates from all Australian states and overseas.

AusWeb will continue in the tradition of trying to make appropriate and better use of network and Web technologies as part of the conference design. Papers will be up on the Web four weeks before the conference. Presenters will be asked to mount their presentations on the Web and the focus of the paper sessions will be on questions and discussion rather than the traditional conference model of being "talked at".

IP drops will be available to delegate use (so bring your laptops) and this year we may even be able to loan out PCMCIA wireless cards so that delegates can remain connected anywhere in the conference centre. We would also like to received ideas and suggestions for conference events or new ways to do things that will enhance the delegate experience. Please email me if have ideas you feel the conference might be able of use. Norsearch Conference Services will again be providing the organisational and administrative support for the conference.
