Abstract

Decision-making strategy for mobile agents in e-business applications has received much attention in recent years. In contrast to many existing approaches, which apply pre-defined business rules or soft computing techniques to deal with various e-business situations, this paper introduces an online competitive algorithm to achieve flexibility. A dynamic decision-making scheme based on an optimised competitive ratio is developed to guide a mobile agent's behaviour in an online fashion. In addition, the proposed approach extends push-based technology in order to benefit both the agent owner and its potential clients. The algorithm comparison and simulation results demonstrate the advantages and applicability of this approach for mobile agent based e-business systems.
