Abstract

Understanding factors that influence the uptake of networked Web-Based Learning development within the highly authoritarian and hierarchical management and training structures of the Australian Army is important to improve opportunities for flexible learning. The perspective of instructional designers and course developers involved in this process provides an understanding of the barriers and facilitators involved in implementing Web-Based Learning within this context. The importance customising the approach taken to develop and implement Web-based learning that reflects the impact of external factors and the interaction of technical, cultural and workplace factors to meet learners' needs .
