The main gateway to Cairns are the international, domestic and general aviation terminals served by major international, national and state air carriers. International visitors can fly direct to Australia with Cairns as their point of entry. Within Australia, airlines such as Ansett, Qantas, Sunstate, Flight West, Air Link and local charter companies provide regular flights from major southern cities and regional Queensland towns.
Ansett Australia has been appointed official airline for the AusWeb2K Conference. Special airfares of up to 45% discount off the full economy airfare are available to all delegates attending the conference. These airfares are subject to availability at the time of booking and will not incur cancellation fees. Alternatively "Best Fare of the Day" with special conditions apply. Just call 13 13 00 and quote MC01435 for your flight to Cairns.
Reservations made through the group booking discount are fully refundable, reroutable and transferable and are therefore not as cheap as the Best Fare of the Day which is not refundable and is offered subject to the advance booking period and various conditions.
For example:
(These prices are exclusive of any taxes eg. Noise Levy Tax in Sydney of $3.40).
Go to the Ansett web site for further information. http://www.ansett.com.au
Bus shuttle services regularly pick up and set down travellers at most hotels and accommodation establishments. Rihga Colonial Club Resort is located 7kms from the airports and 6kms from downtown Cairns. A taxi ride from the airport to the conference venue costs under $10. Rihga Colonial Club Resort has a shuttle bus and will meet flights if they have been advised of your arrival time. If you would like this shuttle bus to meet your flight, please fill in your flight details in the other requirements space on the on-line conference registration form.
Payment of registration should accompany all registration forms with cheques payable to Norsearch Ltd. If you wish to pay by cheque, print off the on-line registration form, fax the form to Norsearch Conference Services on (02) 6622 1954 and process the original form for payment. Payments must be in Australian dollars or a bank draft payable by an Australian Bank.

Your registration will be acknowledged in writing with confirmation of your choices along with your official receipt. If registering online you will recieve an initial confirmation via E-mail. Further information will be posted to all delegates approximately one month prior to the conference. We are aiming to post out the conference proceedings to all delegates prior to the conference also.
Cancellation of registration must be in writing. Cancellations received before 1st May 2000 will be eligible for a full refund minus a $85 administration charge. PLEASE NOTE: NO REFUND WILL BE GIVEN AFTER 1ST MAY 2000, however, substitutions are allowed.
During AusWeb2K the climate in Cairns will be the dry season which usually brings idyllic weather sunshine, fresh breezes and low humidity. The average minimum temperature for June is 18 degrees celsius and the maximum is 26 degrees celsius. Average daily hours of sunshine in June is six.
It is recommended you bring loose, comfortable clothing, walking shoes, a hat, swimwear and sunglasses. All venues accept a good standard of casual tropical dress and you may care to pack a light jacket for evening wear.
A welcome reception will be held at Rihga Colonial Club Resort on Monday evening 12th June from 6pm to 8pm. Join old and new faces in the relaxed tropical style of the conference venue for drinks and canapes. Join up with friends and choose one of Cairns tantalising restaurants (or one of the Resorts restaurants) for dinner afterwards. An optional function, tickets cost $30.
A conference dinner will be held after the first days conferencing program on Tuesday night 13th June from 7pm. An excellent opportunity to network over a colourful buffet dinner with drinks provided. An inclusive function for delegates, accompanying partners tickets cost $60.
An informal BBQ will be held on Wednesday night 14th June from 6.30pm. An inclusive function for delegates, accompanying partners tickets cost $40.
As Cairns abounds with tour options and people who will organise them for you, we have chosen not to offer any organised events excepting the Reef Cruise on Saturday 17th June (see above).
There is plenty for accompanying partners and children to do while delegates conference away. Amongst activities to choose from are exploring the Great Barrier Reef, Diving, visiting Reef Islands, lying on Tropical beaches, adventure touring, fishing, tasting the faire of the tropics, or partaking in indigenous cultural tourism. Here are some of our destination suggestions:
