Abstract

Internet technologies deployed behind the firewall are extremely well suited to internal corporate information systems, popularly called "intranets". Intranets are having a dramatic effect on individual and departmental communication.

Internet technologies can seamlessly provide information across the organisation which previously took analysts and developers using complex, hard to learn tools, years to implement.

Organisations are taking up Internet technologies and seeing measurable results within a couple of months. We'll explore the major milestones and necessary requirements for an intranet implementation. The main business, technical and organisational issues that a major US investment firm encountered will be discussed.
