Elaine Lawrence is a lecturer in the School of Computing Sciences at the University of Technology, Sydney. She has recently spent her sabbatical leave in the USA and Canada researching business opportunities on the WWW. Jeanette Murry is an information officer at the Career Development Office of Macquarie University where she is also in charge of the Careers Office Web site. Her research is in telecommunications policy and she has a wide range of experience in management issues, computing and public policy. Alan Tidwell is a senior lecturer in Management at Macquarie Graduate School of Management. He is currently involved in a wide range of research activities on applications for the World Wide Web

Elaine, Jeanette and Alan are also consultants for Cyber.Consult, the preferred Internet trainer for the Australian Computer Society (NSW branch). They have presented strategic planning workshops and seminars for both government and business organisations in Sydney.

The poster will address issues on establishing a cyber-presence. Research has indicated that 84 of the top global 100 companies have a presence on the WWW (CyberManagement, 1996) but business executives are reluctant to commit to electronic business until the market has stabilised. This poster takes the position that the technology is already in place and outlines a course on Strategic Internet Planning for business executives.
