Ecotourist

Simon says that:
"I completed my Honours in Computer Science last year at the University
of Adelaide, and have since taken my current postion at GISCA. This involves,
among other things, R&D in 3D-GIS (urban modelling of Adelaide) and
distributed access to GIS."
Simon says about his poster:
"My poster details the construction of a WWW interface to the Arc/Info
GIS, which allows manipulation and interrogation of the GIS database. For
example, this lets a field worker in the outback using a laptop computer
and radio-modem, query on-line information from a GIS in at the office.
The system has been applied to an Ecotourism domain, using the South-East
of South Australia as the location. Potential ecotourists wishing to visit
the area can now have access to up to date information about the flora and
fauna in the area, as well as information such as activities, places of
interest and accomodation details. Because of the levels of detail in the
GIS, the user can choose the detail of the information they require."
