Investigation of World Wide Web Use by Government Agencies in Western Australia


Abstract

This paper comes from a research project to identify, examine and address the significance of the conceptual and pragmatic problems affecting the establishment of a government World Wide Web presence and to develop a model which will assist in identifying issues to be considered.

The paper addresses information, strategy and importance of the use of the World Wide Web to the business of government. Issues such as censorship, security, copyright, technical issues, costing and funding and moving the bureaucracy are identified. Benchmarks for the determining the use of the World Wide Web are considered and future developments of government World Wide Web use are discussed.
