ThemeTechnological Convergence in Higher Education: Are the Educators Ready?

Stewart Adam stewarta@rmit.edu.au, stewarta@msn.com

Stewart is co-author of Australia's most widely adopted marketing
text and working on the next edition. His research interests concern
the adoption and diffusion of innovation in converging technologies -
particularly as this affects marketing strategy and the new paradigms
that are evolving as marketing goes full circle and back to
'satisfying a target market of one.'

Co-author of the paper, David Wilson, is involved with decision systems,
particularly in the logistics area. Both authors are involved in using the
Web as a distribution vehicle for enhancing learning as well as involved in
developing tools to aid this process.

Stewart says about the paper:
"Change is occuring so rapidly that the next stage of the research
is vital. If the paper is correct, educators are falling behind in
their use of the new communications technologies in teaching. If
this is due to complacency or fear of change then it is hoped that
the conference as a whole will serve to show us all how to use the
Web more effectively and efficiently."
