Meeting Student Needs -- OLA on the Web

George says:
"I hold the position of Academic Projects Officer at Open
Learning Australia.
This means that I oversee a number of projects, of which our web site is
one.
My goal with the web is to improve the OLA site and to find new ways of
making it a service to students rather than just 'electronic advertising'.
I have a non-technical background and knew very little about the World Wide
Web until OLA decided to establish a presence -- so it's been a steep
learning curve. I'm currently looking at Java and the prospects for on-line
teaching materials and multi-media.
The poster will show a work in progress. It will look at what's been achieved
with the OLA web site to date and what the plans are for the future.
Attendees will be able to see the step by step process we used in
establishing a presence on the web, as well as the problems we encountered.
I
would also encourage feedback from the attendees as we are always looking
at
improving the site."
