Computer-mediated communication causes techno-fear
Asynchronous communication causes loss of immediacy and intimacy
Filters, intermediaries, cause loss of control by staff
The variety of communication tools and interfaces becomes a barrier to learning
1. Retain immediacy of student-teacher interactions by putting Web publishing and course management tools into the hands of teachers
2. Use integrated publishing-interaction tools with a simple consistent interface
