World Wide Web Walkabout: a subject-oriented program for teaching and learning the Internet

Katie Wilson kwilson@laurel.ocs.mq.edu.au

Katie says about herself:
With lots of experience with online searching services, CDROMs and
the Internet I now manage information technology training at
Macquarie University. I develop, design and deliver Internet training courses
for staff, students, teachers, librarians and the public. These courses are
mostly face-to-face, which concentrate on understanding and using the
Internet, developing information finding skills - making
it work for each person.

About her paper:
The Web offers great opportunities for independent online instruction
allowing people to work at their own pace. As the Internet is being
used more and more in teaching and learning, good instruction is
essential. World Wide Web Walkabout, the topic of my AusWeb96
paper, is being used for general and subject based training across
campus. The design and flow of Web-based programs are vital
developmental issues.
