What is the World Wide Web Walkabout?

an independent self-paced modular Internet training program
developed by Macquarie University Library staff in collaboration with academic staff
complements face-to-face training sessions
integrates instruction in commonly used Internet protocols with live hypertext subject links

How is WWWW used?

to develop general and specific Internet skills
in directed and undirected learning/teaching situations
directed by academic staff to support teaching
undirected for all campus users via the Macquarie University Library WWW Home Page

Development issues

modular approach via subjects and Internet protocols
good design essential - graphics and layout
translation of oral and printed instruction to computer/network environment
logical flow of program

Future developments

ongoing development to accommodate changes in the Internet and more subject areas
incorporate Java or cgi based quiz to test and reinforce learning
use of the Web for development of training programs in other areas
