AusWeb96 Frequently Asked Questions - FAQ List
We've received a number of questions on the operation of AusWeb96. We
respond individually, of course, but common questions will also be addressed
in the AusWeb-L mailing list and in this FAQ list. More questions can be
addressed to the AusWeb96 team at ausweb96@scu.edu.au
Q: What is the dress code for AusWeb96?
A: Apart from the dinner, which will be reasonably formal, the dress
code for AusWeb96 is casual.
Q: When will the Special Interest Group
meetings be scheduled?
A: They will be scheduled during the conference, on the Monday and
Tuesday.
Q: You've mentioned SIGs and "Walks on the Beach with Keynote
Speakers". Is there a charge for these events?
A: There is *no* charge for SIGs, "Walks on the Beach with Keynote
Speakers" or "Keynote Address Followup Sessions" or for the
other ancillary events at AusWeb96.
Q: When will the meeting schedule be released so I can plan my conference?
A: We're holding off designing the final programme until we have
a better feel on the number of papers that will be accepted in each theme.
We should be able to finalise the program in early May.
Q: What are the arrangements for presentation of my paper?
A: The AusWeb96 team is keen to maximise interaction throughout the
conference. A key element of our planning is to utilise Web technology to
its fullest and maximise the benefits of the valuable f2f time at Conrads.
As with AusWeb95, presenters quickly sum up their paper, a moderator draws
the key issues from the papers in that group and then it is opened up for
Q&A and discussion. The full papers will be on the AusWeb96 home page
a month before the conference so we're expecting attendees to have read
the papers and be ready to engage in a productive exchange with the presenters
and others in the audience. No more of the "well thanks for the presentation.
I think we have time for one question before the next paper"!
