Papers - AusWeb96
Themes
AusWeb96 has both papers and posters in each of the four major theme areas
at the conference. There are full details on the themes and the theme editors:
Full Papers
Details of all papers will be released progressively and the papers will
be available from 1 June:
Full papers have been refereed upon submission of complete papers in final
draft stage or extended abstracts of approximately 2,000 words. All submitted
papers were refereed for relevance, quality and originality. Accepted papers
will be published in the Conference Proceedings on the Web, on paper and
on CD-ROM.
There are full details on submission
of papers and on key dates.
There is also an "Example" Theme
to show potential authors how the papers or posters will look after the
instructions for completion of papers and posters have been followed and
the paper or poster has been loaded on to the SCU server.
The AusWeb96 team is keen to maximise interaction throughout the conference.
A key element of our planning is to utilise Web technology to its fullest
and maximise the benefits of the valuable face to face time at Conrads.
As with AusWeb95, presenters quickly sum up their paper, a moderator draws
the key issues from the papers in that group and then it is opened up for
Q&A and discussion. The full papers will be on the AusWeb96 home page
a month before the conference so we're expecting attendees to have read
the papers and be ready to engage in a productive exchange with the presenters
and others in the audience. No more of the "well thanks for the presentation.
I think we have time for one question before the next paper"!
To continue with our theme of interaction, we are planning something a little
different at AusWeb96. We recognise that having simultaneous tracks for
presentation of papers means that participants will not be able to hear
every presentation that they may wish attend. So we're planning to put the
presenters "on display"!
The paper presenters will be scheduled on to one of the computers supplied
by Sun Microsystems at a designated time. Usually that will be on the same
day as their presentation. The attendees can then go to the appropriate
computer to chat with the presenters individually or in a small group. The
formal papers session is not always the best place to demonstrate software,
important sites or to elaborate on concepts .. standing by the computer
chatting will be, we expect, more productive.
Presenters will each have an approximately half hour slot. So this is bringing
the best of the poster sessions to the formal papers.
Posters
Poster sessions will be conducted at a computer which will be connected
to the Internet, so that conference attendees who are interested in the
particular topic can talk with the poster presenter one to one.
Poster sessions are particularly useful for reporting work-in-progress,
an exciting and different Web site or an unusual application of Web technology.
There are full details on submission
of posters and on key dates to be followed.
Details on Papers and Posters
There are a total of 102 papers and posters to be presented at AusWeb96.
