Higher Education Staff Development Seminar

Workshop Abstract

As a post-conference event, the Teaching and Learning Unit at Southern Cross University will be offering a one-day staff development seminar for university teachers. The seminar will focus specifically on the impact of the Web on teaching and learning in higher education. It is particularly designed for staff who are relatively new to this technology and wish to learn how the Web can be integrated into their courses.

The seminar will be held on Wednesday, July 10.

Full day, Wednesday 10 July.

Who should attend

Recent developments in telecommunications-based technologies such as the World Wide Web have the potential, within the next few years, to contribute to revolutionary changes in the delivery of university programs. The Open University in the UK is predicting that by the year 2005 some 95% of their students will be network connected. These new educational technologies will also break down the distinction between on-campus and off-campus students and allow easy local, national and international collaboration between staff and students.

Whether you lectur internal students in the traditonal manner or are involved with distance teaching, this one day program will not only show you what is currently being done in the field of Web-based course delivery and teaching but it will also give you a glimpse into the likely future of university teaching and learning.
