Advanced Netscape Browsing with 2.0
Workshop Abstract
An introduction to the new features that can be employed when users go
surfing on the Web with Netscape 2.0. This will generally include hands
on
sessions involving using the new features of Netscape 2.0 and the those
features that have been updated from earlier versions such as news,
bookmarks, java, and various plug-ins.
Aims
The aim of the workshop is to provide participants with the chance to use
the
Netscape 2.0 browser and to visit sites that are enhanced for using this
browser. In particular participants will be shown how the important features
such as mail, news, bookmarks, helper applications, and plug-ins, of a
network browser operate in Netscape 2.0.
Objectives
The participants will be able to effectively use many of the newer or
modified features of the Netscape 2.0 browser by the end of the workshop.
They will be able to collect a bookmark file from their session that will
contain the addresses of impressive sites that have been visited during
the
workshop.
Strategy
The workshop will be almost entirely hands-on with participants performing
a
number of tasks on the Pentium 90 computers provided using Netscape 2.0.
These tasks include:
- configuring the browser
- visiting Netscape 2.0 enhanced sites
- bookmarking impressive sites
- using the news facility
- visiting java sites
- visiting 'shocked' sites
- organising and exporting the bookmarks.
There will be plenty of opportunity for participants to progress through
the
workshops at their own pace and to get assistance in completing the tasks.
Pre-requisite Knowledge
