Abstract

In this paper, the web user is considered as participant in a computational environment which includes their real world, their computer world, and the web. The user of web technologies is considered with relation to the metaphors that determine the computer's 'user interface'. The aspirations and understandings of a web user are related to the understandings and priorities developed over the first decade of mass use of micro computer environments. The extension of the lessons learned to the world of macro environments is considered as the notion of 'personal knowledge space' is explored.
