Abstract

This paper discusses the conceptual and practical issues that relate to the preservation of World Wide Web resources. It is argued that content on the World Wide Web should be preserved and that the technical problems related to this can be overcome. The experience of the State Library of Tasmania through its Our Digital Island preservation Web site is used to illustrate that Web preservation is practical and affordable. National and cooperative action by relevant organisations, however, will be needed to ensure that signficant Web preservation occurs in the future.
