The Terrain

When Tim Berners Lee, Director of the Web Consortium (W3C), birthed the World Wide Web almost 10 years ago, web authoring was the domain of information technologists. They were hot with code but they were not visual designers, and this fact inevitably resulted in the current state the Web. For instance, defaults from the print world, regarding context, layout and even terminology were adopted unquestioned. ("Web page" for instance)
